GOPACHY
MISSION STATEMENT
In
order for a forum of this sort to be successful, or as some put it “to
reach critical mass”, there are a number of things that need to be
present:
1. Depth of topic
2. Diversity of ideas
3. Freedom of expression
Our
purpose here at www.GOPachy.com
is to provide a place that promotes lively, passionate, and intelligent
debate spanning the full spectrum of Republican political thought, and to do
it with an intuitive, user-friendly, flexible format, loaded with all the
cool bells and whistles. Please give us a little time to hang all the bells
and whistles; we’re working as fast as we can to load them.
We
welcome suggestions…and pro bono help, especially from web developers,
graphic artists, programmers, and bloggers looking for a place to call home,
but most of all we want to know what you want from us, so if there’s
something you would like to see added to the forum, please contact a Site
Administrator about it, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
We are
a big tent political discussion site, and welcome all ideas from the right of
center in the political landscape.
The
rules of engagement are simple, and we’re not going to insult your
intelligence by posting lists of unacceptable words, topics, images, or
manners of addressing others; simply use your common sense, and police one
another. We believe that Forum Moderating is very much like government: that
forum which Moderates least is best; but freedom is itself moderated by the
willingness of those exercising it to do so within self-imposed boundaries of
maturity, and mutual respect.
Be good
to one another, and remember…freedom is an individual thing, so to
paraphrase Voltaire, disagree with one another, but give it your all to
protect each other’s right to freely state what you disagree on;
“think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so
too.”
One
last thing…
This
has been a long, strange journey for many of us, this search for the right
blend of members and product. We think we have the right product in place
with this software, and this format, but a forum stands or falls on its
membership…this is your forum; make it the best it can be.
As far
as the past is concerned, all we can say is that like in every other aspect
of life, the past is what we learn from, and the future is how we apply what
knowledge we’ve gained from past events.
